Current issues

Currently editing files which have been received via federated shares does not reliably work. It seems to work a little bit better with OnlyOffice.

Office integrations

In sciebo we currently offer by default two Office integrations:

• Collabora/Nextcloud Office
• on an interim basis OnlyOffice for compability with Microsoft documents

Starting with Nextcloud 30 Collabora will be the default editor. If there are problems with Microsoft documents, there is a transitional period where you can open files in OnlyOffice via the "three dot menue:"

For OnlyOffice we only have a limited number of licenses, so it may happen that not all users can use OnlyOffice, especially at peak times (around 11 am).

Tipp: Collabora opens the document in the same window, to open the document in the new tab, click Ctrl + middle click.

Future

Our current OnlyOffice licenses are valid until February 2026. As these are very pricey and limited, it is unclear whether we will extend the OnlyOffice service beyond February, so it is important that we get Feedback on the usability of Collabora.
